TESTING MACHINES

Laboratory hard testing machine UTM-20HT

Application

       The laboratory testing machine "UTM-20 HT is intended for studying process of indentation of specimens from constructional materials with the purpose of definition of their hardness characteristics, and also development of experimental techniques for strength characteristics estimation of  constructional materials (yield strength, ultimate strength, strengthening coefficient, tensile strain etc.). These techniques are based on the analysis of diagrams from continuous indentation registered during tests and has been developed in the G.S.Pisarenko Institute for Problems of Strength of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine under the direction of  Dr. V.V.Kharchenko, www.ipp.kiev.ua.

Design features

  • Coordinate table with possibility to move precisely a tested specimen along two coordinates relatively the indenter;

  • Replaceable precision load cells (HBM) for extension of load measurement range;

  • Absolute displacement sensor for positioning of the loading rod and indenter;

  • Two precision displacement sensors for measurement error  minimization of indentation depth;

  • Super servo-drive for control of  indentation rate over a wide range;

  • Control of the machine with the manual console or by software in fully automatic mode.

Main technical data:
  • Maximum test load - 10 kN;
  • Load measurement range: from 0 up to 1 kN and from 0 up to 10 kN;
  • Error of load measurements - no more 1 %;
  •  Indentation range 2500 m;
  • Error of indentation measurement, max. - no more 0,5 %;
  • Displacement rate of loading rod  - from 50 up to 50000 m/min.

Software

The program HardTest  provides realization of specimen indentation for constructional materials in completely automated mode and carries out such functions:
  • Digital indication of measured values: load, indentation depth (left and right displacement sensor and average value), loading rod displacement;
  • Programmed protection control for measuring sensors and the machine;
  • Setting of conversion and control factors for each measuring channel;
  • Control in a manual mode by the built - in control panel of the program;
  • Input and saving of characteristics of a tested specimen, parameters of indenter and test conditions;
  • Positioning and smooth approach of the indenter to tested specimen surface;
  • Selecting and setting indentation law with load or displacement (indentation depth) control under single or cyclic loading;  
  • Graphic representation of indentation diagrams during test with auto-scaling  in real time;
  •  Preview, saving and export the test results to external programs for the subsequent calculations.
